What did, if anything, your partner take with them? Other then snacks.

Also did you take magazines/books for yourself?

I can tell you what I take as a doula - perhaps some of it might be useful for a partner:

    - copy of the NICE guidelines for Intrapartum Care
    - a few copies of the mum's birth plan
    - headphones
    - dried fruit and other low-sugar snacks
    - water/straw
    - spare t-shirt
    - essential oils
    - deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste
    - hairbrush & hairband
    - spare maternity pad
    - camera, cash

    - book/magazine

    For homebirths
    - torch
    - thermometer

I think someone mentioned a change of clothes (or at least underpants & shirt / teeshirt) plus deodrant, toothpaste and toothbrush.

And if your H is anything like mine then hair gel or he'll end up with a fluffy head Laugh

i went in for induction so yes i took books.

I also slung in a tshirt and pair of jeans for him, incase he got mucky.  I've no idea why i thought ot do that, he didn't use them.  I was however when I surveyed the post birth mess really surprised at how much muck and blood there was.  (I'd had a really chilled out labour and birth - I guess it was all fromt he placenta, it was heuge!)

Definitely take a clean t-shirt and deodorant, toothbrush etc. I was in labour for a long time and H really felt the need to freshen up.  Would also recommend taking a clean pair of boxers for him because the hospital let H stay in overnight with me, which we weren't expecting so he had no clean pants in the morning.  Also take loads and I mean loads of drinks and food for him because he won't even be offered a cup of tea.  Hospital food can be expensive and depending on how difficult your labour is you might not want him nipping out to find a vending machine every time he gets peckish.

I didn't bother with magazines or books, I didn't really have the energy to read anything.

Definitely a change of clothes. I was in surgery for 6 hours post birth and my H had Imogen. She did her first bright green poo all over him!!

I was induced and there was a lot of hanging about so I took some books and suduko.

Thanks everyone was pretty much what I thought.  Must remind him to keep all loose change from now on.
