  • Midwife shocked at how palpable uterus is - twins?

Have to say I'm absolutely petrified! Absolutely nothing against twins but we'd have 4 under 5 and live in a 2 bedroomed house and would need a new car!

She said at around 11 weeks it would be just above the pubic bone, I told her I could feel mine now at 9+5 she didn't believe me but then looked visibly shocked when she felt it.

Early scan tomorrow at 9.50. So so scared!

p.s. and non identical twins do run in my family!

    p.p.s she also said I wouldn't be allowed a home/water birth

    Don't worry yet.

Could be triplets. Or quads. You could worry then.

    Mwah ha ha ha ha.

    Good luck tomorrow!

My friend has 4 under 4 and lives in a 2 bed flat Eek They're just about to move, and the twins are 8 months old now! Do the fraternal twins run on your mothers side of the family though? They only run down the female side (my hubby is a fraternal twin so I did lots of reading to see if it meant our daughter would have increased chance and no she won't).

I wouldn't worry my uterus was above my pubic bone around 7 weeks with numbers 2 and 3 and my midwife just said that sometimes with 2nd/3rd pregnancies it can be felt earlier.

Good luck with the scan tomorrow, I will be waiting for the news! Laugh

ooh you are evil, but it does put some perspective on things doesn't it! (Someone I know had an unexpected third pregnancy and had triplets!)

    Good luck tomorrow.

Wow - exciting and scary! You CAN have a homebirth with twins, although there is obviously more associated risk. There is a story you can find on G.oogle about an australian woman who had a twin waterbirth in the wilds of Australia (4 hours drive from the city) Hope you get the result you want!
