are not complete without a decorative topper, it has been suggested.
An article posted on ecommwire.com explains that if an effort has been made to ensure the dessert looks - as well as tastes - great, it "makes everyone feel good".
It says toppers have become "a must" at weddings and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
While some couples may have statues of the groom and a bride wearing her wedding dress
, others could opt for hearts or flowers.
There are also different themes giving people plenty of choice, whether they want a humorous topper or something a little more serious, such as a crystal design.
"And most of all, they give the cake a pretty nice and eye-catching look," the article continued.
Of course, the cake itself is also important and Lenna Gonya recently wrote for Helium that spiced fruit desserts are the perfect option for an autumnal ceremony.
