Konnie Huq 'put wedding planning on hold for X Factor'

Konnie Huq has revealed she put her wedding planning on hold to host the Xtra Factor.

Speaking to Look magazine, the former Blue Peter presenter spoke about her relationship with Charlie Brooker, saying the pair have known each other since they met at the Edinburgh Festival several years ago.

Originally, the couple wanted to tie the knot at a wedding venue in Las Vegas following a month-long road trip around the US.

However, this was cancelled when Huq was asked to replace Holly Willoughby on the X Factor spin-off show.

She told the magazine: "I've got more of an evil sense of humour than people realise and although Charlie's job is to be critical, he's more of a softie than you'd think."

Huq added that the couple are not as opposite as many people would expect.

As well as writing a regular column for the Guardian's G2 supplement, Brooker produces, writes and presents Screenwipe for the BBC. He also hosted a show called You Have Been Watching on Channel 4.
