National Wedding Day 2010

On Sunday 1 August, the Nation is being encouraged to celebrate all-things-marital as part of the very first National Wedding Day. The brainchild of TV’s The Wedding Fairy, the day aims to get the UK celebrating, whilst also raising money for NSPCC and runs throughout the month of August 2010.

National Wedding Day is a chance for couples to celebrate their past, present and forthcoming nuptials whilst also raising money for the NSPCC’s Celebrate and Give campaign. Whether married for ten years or planning an upcoming do, everyone can get involved and help vulnerable children across the UK.

Fundraising can take any shape or form; from hosting a BBQ for your old wedding guests and wowing them with your first dance all over again, to re-creating the chaos of your hen or stag do. If you’re yet to say ‘I do’, why not get your friends together for a wedding cake sale or bridal shower. Whatever the activity, the aim is to raise as much money as possible for the UK’s leading children’s charity.

Being launched on the most popular day to get wed in the UK, National Wedding Day is the brainchild of George Watts, also known as The Wedding Fairy. Watts’ first launched his TV career on BBC2’s ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’, and since then has gone on to work for GMTV, FIVE and Sky’s Wedding TV, reporting for ‘Wedding Breakfast’.

Watts has privately supported a host of children’s charities over the past ten years and felt the time was right to take his campaign Nationwide.

The official fundraising website is now live! Visit theweddingfairy.tv and click NATIONAL WEDDING DAY. The Campaign runs throughout the month of August 2010.
