Prince Albert of Monaco announces engagement

Prince Albert of Monaco is set to make a wedding speech and walk down the aisle.

He is engaged to South African Charlene Wittstock, 32, a former Olympic swimmer who he met when she travelled to the principality for a competition in 2000.

The marriage will end years of bachelorhood for the 52-year-old prince, who is the son of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco.

He has also admitted to fathering two illegitimate children.

Details regarding the wedding venue and date of the celebration are still to be announced.

Colombe Pringle, executive editor of Point de Vue magazine, said: "It's been 30 years since Grace died, 30 years they've been waiting for a first lady, a princess, a dream beauty, glam. And voila!"

Before becoming Princess Grace of Monaco, Grace Kelly was a Hollywood star, known for her roles in films such as Dial M For Murder, To Catch A Thief and High Society.
