Couples 'abandoning traditional honeymoons'

Instead of a traditional two-week holiday on a sunny beach, couples are opting for something different when it comes to their
honeymoon, it has been claimed.
According to 101honeymoons.co.uk, several new trends are emerging and there has been an increase in the popularity of chic UK beach hotels and cottages among newlyweds.
The website said these are often in places such as Devon, Cornwall and Northumberland, while some people are choosing luxury adventure trips to places like Tanzania or Japan.
Alternatively, rich couples with busy lives are opting for minimoons and flying to France on a private jet or visiting the Ice Hotel in Sweden, the company found.
Jane Anderson, editor of 101honeymoons.co.uk, said: "Today's newlyweds are increasingly travel savvy and want an added wow factor, whether it's a private pool, a top spa or a celebrity-endorsed restaurant."
Staying a little closer to home after they have made a
wedding speech may also help some couples to save money and the Detroit News recently reported that it is important for brides and grooms to set financial goals and plan their wedding budget carefully.
