Winter weddings mean brides 'can wrap up warm' in cosy shawls

One of the best things about having a winter wedding for brides is that they can accessorise their wedding dress with a cosy shawl or wrap.

This is according to Chicago RSVP, which states that there may be "nothing more elegant and beautiful" than tying the knot over the festive season.

The news provider also has some other suggestions for brides who want to make their nuptials extra special. It says that a crystal bouquet can make an interesting change to traditional wedding flowers.

Likewise, "serving your guests seasonal drinks like eggnog, apple cider and hot cocoa are also a great alternative" to the usual drinks when the weather is chilly and a "seasonal hearty soup" could make a great starter.

Paloma Rodarte, who runs Frostings Event Design and Rentals, recently told the Arizona Daily Star that more people are making wedding favours and centrepieces themselves to save some money.
