Hankies on stand-by for Coronation Street wedding

Fans of Coronation Street should get their hankies ready in preparation for Fiz Brown's wedding to jailbird John Stape this week.

At least that is the opinion of the actress who plays the bubbly redhead Jennie McAlpine, who has claimed that the episode in which Fiz and John say their I dos is likely to be a tearjerker.

With a prison chapel for a wedding venue and no happy honeymoon to jet off to afterwards, it is certainly likely to be much different from previous Corrie weddings.

Jennie, 25, explained: "There's a limited number of guests in a prison chapel. There hasn't been all the organising and there isn't going to be a reception or a honeymoon, obviously, because John has to go back to his cell."

If past weddings in the soap are anything to go by, then Fiz is sure to encounter her fair share of added drama.

When Steve McDonald and Becky Granger tied the knot last month, the feisty blonde barmaid was carted off to jail shortly afterwards.
