Not all brides satisfied with their engagement ring, survey says
Only 62 per cent of brides in the UK are "extremely happy" with their groom's choice of engagement ring, a new survey reveals.
According to the research conducted by online jewellers ampalian.com, 11 per cent of brides feel the gemstone in their engagement ring is too small, suggesting that grooms have more to be anxious about than the
wedding speech.
More than 34 per cent of women believe that grooms-to-be should spend between £500 and £1,000 on a ring.
Commenting on the findings, Kerrie Potts, CEO of Ampalian, said: "The typical British bride tends to be very clear on what makes a perfect engagement ring and it seems that size really matters. With any high carat gemstone there is a cost attached though, which is why price comes into play as well."
The study found that a quarter of couples opt for a different gemstone to diamond, while yellow gold has dropped to second place behind white gold in popularity.
Figures show that more than 300,000 couples tie the knot in the UK every year.
