Bride celebrates honeymoon in maternity ward
A bride in Northumberland exchanged wedding vows while in labour with her first child, reports claim.
Expectant mum Emma Lowdon, 36, started experiencing contractions at the wedding venue on her wedding day to husband Sean Allum, 35, but decided to carry on with the ceremony.
"I was absolutely determined I would be Mrs Allum before the baby came," she said.
"The baby's welfare was always the absolute top priority but we decided to go ahead after a consultant said it would be OK and that it might be even more stressful if the wedding was cancelled."
After the wedding finished, the new Mr and Mrs Allum welcomed their first baby, son Josh, five weeks before the scheduled due date, weighing in at just 5lbs.
According to reports, the staff at the Wansbeck General Hospital, where the baby was delivered, reportedly renamed the maternity room "the Honeymoon Suite", in memory of the unique occasion.
