Say Yes to Sandals
Fran @ Hitched
Earlier this month I was lucky enough to be a guest
at the Sandals LaSource Resort & Spa (www.sandals.co.uk) on the wonderful Caribbean island of
Grenada. Located right on Pink Gin Beach, this newly refurbished resort which opened its doors on December 21st, 2013, has
everything that a wedding planning or honeymooning couple could want; from
great, friendly service, to privacy and luxury included.
Making the decision to get married abroad
is tough. What will the experience be like? Will everything be to my standard?
Will our friends and family enjoy it? Will it feel like a romantic wedding? To
answer all of these questions I was invited to check out the Sandals LaSource
resort for myself. Putting myself in the shoes of a bride-to-be I experienced a
step-by-step journey through an engagement, all the way through to
a blissful honeymoon.
I've been happily married for two years,
but when I was at Sandals I fell in love and was proposed to all over again.
Sandals are experts when it comes to planning the setting for romance. During
my first night on the island we were enjoying a candle-lit dinner on the beach
when out of nowhere the big question was popped.
Sandals LaSource is geared up to help any
proposal of marriage perfect, and to suit the style of the couple. Whether it
be on the balcony in your room with Champagne, at the end of a boardwalk
overlooking the ocean, or even underwater, the wedding team at LaSource can
help you plan and achieve the ultimate proposal.
Getting Married at Sandals LaSource
On the morning of my beach wedding I got my
nails done at the Red Lane Spa; a tranquil, relaxing experience where got to
choose my sparkly nail colour and chill out for over an hour while my hands were
massaged and my nails painted the perfect wedding shade. I then went to meet
with my expert wedding planner who talked me through all the options that are
available to wedding planning couples at LaSource.
The wedding team at Sandals LaSource are
ready to persoanlise your wedding experience from start to finish, making sure
that you have the absolute best when it comes to your décor, your wedding
flowers, your wedding cake, the perfect colour scheme and so much more. The wedding team are able to source pretty
much anything that you need for your big day…and if you book your wedding with
LaSource, or any of the Sandals resorts, you’ll be in touch with the team
frequently, and for several months before your actual wedding. Your wedding
planner will have everything ready for when you arrive in Grenada…and in terms
of when to arrive for your wedding, you shouldn't require longer than a few
days to discuss and plan the finishing touches.
During my wedding consultation I got to
discuss options of flowers that I loved, where it would be possible to
physically get married on the beach and within the resort, and I also got to do
some cake tasting which was fab!
When it came to the actual wedding I was
handed a truly beautiful bouquet that featured white hydrangeas and yellow
lilies. I’d mentioned how much I loved hydrangeas in my consultation and as if
by magic, my bouquet was full of them. And, to complete my bridal look I was gifted a gorgeous headpiece, designed by Island Bridal (www.islandbridalonline.com).
I walked down the boardwalk to a gazebo
where my groom would have been waiting for me. Guests were all seated on
glamorous chiavari chairs, a saxophonist played the perfect wedding song, and
the aisle was lined with a mix of seashells to create the atmosphere; it was
the perfect setting for a romantic wedding on the beach. At Sandals the choice
is basically yours when it comes to your wedding. You tell your wedding
coordinator what you love, and they’ll make it happen.
It couldn't get much more romantic saying
‘I do’ gazing into the sunset overlooking the magnificent Pink Gin beach.
The ceremony was followed by cocktails and
a sand-blending session whereby the bride and groom blend coloured sand into a
glass bottle or jar to keep as a forever memory of their beach wedding at
Sandals. This unique memento will be a talking point in your home for years to
come! It was such a lovely touch and an unexpected way to break up the evening.
The bride and groom can choose a number of
different options when it comes to the wedding breakfast at Sandals LaSource;
from a buffet to a sit down dinner on the beach, or a glamorous table for two
set up in one of the restaurants, or several tables depending on the size of your wedding party.
A pool side wedding reception could also be an option.
And, if by chance it happened to rain at
the time of your wedding or reception then Sandals would have it covered,
literally! A back up plan is always available and at the ready!
Every night at Sandals there is
entertainment in the lobby, so after your romantic wedding reception and the
cutting of your beach themed wedding cake, why not join the rest of the
lovebirds at the resort and dance the night away.
Whether you choose to get married at
Sandals LaSource or simply spend your honeymoon there you’ll be guaranteed an
amazing time. For me one of the most important factors when visiting a hotel or
resort is the style and quality of the room, and I have to say that my Italian
Village SkyPool Butler Suite was literally the best and most luxurious hotel
suite that I’ve ever stayed in around the world! You’ll want your honeymoon and
your whole wedding experience to be unforgettable, so if you can afford it, you
really should indulge and try to book yourselves into the best suite affordable
at the resort.
Some couples might think that they won’t
spend much time in the room whilst on holiday, but when you've got a room like
that includes a wonderful balcony overlooking the ocean or the resort, an
infinity pool, an outdoor tub with curtains for privacy, a bed with double
doors that open up overlooking the ocean, an ultra luxurious bathroom with a
giant shower and an amazing tub, a fully stoked bar with your own personal
butler, and a full sized living area – you might find yourselves staying in the
room a little more than you think!
Enjoy breakfast in bed on the morning after
your wedding, or in fact every single morning of your honeymoon if you like, or
choose to dine in one of the nine restaurants at the resort.
If you’re after some experiences as a
couple then I recommend a romantic couples massage that can be arranged by the
beauty specialist team at the Red Lane Spa.
Massages and treatments do come at an extra cost, but it’s worth it! Or,
why not book a day trip with the excursion team. Take a day tour around the
island of Grenada, or why not go on a snorkel trip to visit the world’s first
underwater sculpture park. I went on an amazing guided snorkel tour around the
island, led by Greneda Seafaris (www.grenadaseafaris.com). I highly recommend them!
Alternatively, the whole of Pink Gin beach
is at your disposal, so why not grab a hammock or a sun bed for two and laze
about for a week or two, reminiscing about your special day and all of the
guests that were able to join you, whether you tied the knot at home, or
ReTie the Knot
If you loved your honeymoon at Sandals so
much, or you’re looking for a unique way to celebrate your second, fifth, tenth
or twentieth wedding anniversary, then why not consider the ReTie the Knot
package that Sandals have to offer. Working in a similar way to the wedding
package, you’ll be given a ReTie the knot planner, a 30 minute ceremony, a
cake, a photograph and more, all included in your package. It’s the perfect
opportunity to either re-live a memory or do it all over again with your loved
On top of my romantic engagement, my
perfect Caribbean wedding and my luxurious honeymoon experience, I was truly
impressed with the passion and excellence in customer service that the staff at
Sandals LaSource exude. The Sandals charm and relaxing
atmosphere will leave you feeling fully refreshed and revived, ready to start
your life together as a married couple!
