The theme is now "vintage" with the colours of gold, and dark brown featuring massively and dusky pink appearing in the flowers, I met with our florist last night (link below) and She had some great ideas for bird cage floral decorations and the use of old dutch roses, there are some great photos on her website and my mind is overflowing with ideas for "wow" factor centerpieces

www.bygeorgebespoke.co.uk

I am so relieved that we are incorporating my favorite colours! R was a little grumpy about it at first but he soon came round to the idea and now I don't need to change my wedding dress ( my dress is a certain colour that would not have matched the previous theme of black and white)

I also met with Ruth Hunter from Finesse Planning - Ruth has taken all of my ideas and thoughts and managed to make sense of them and literally pulled everything that I wanted together in the space of two hours, she is brilliant (link below) and I am very pleased she is now going to be our on the day coordinator

www.finesseplanning.co.uk

We have decided not to have a string quartet or chair covers, instead we are going to put the money towards other areas like increasing the flower budget and some kind of entertainment during the drinks reception.......we saw a fab old fashioned, or should I say "vintage" ice cream cart at a wedding fair at the weekend which we both loved

I don't think there is much to report other than the fact that I am still keeping toblerone in business and I haven't lost any weight yet! :) I have a trip to a spa booked next week and I am really looking forward to that, what else....oh yeah - I have to go and have an operation to remove one of my teeth, it will be in the next three weeks and I am petrified but I have been in considerable pain with the same tooth for 18 months, I have decided to bite the bullet and go for the op in the hope that I will be pain free after my recovery

That's all for now!

Dentists are scary!!!
We are now under the year mark - I am suddenly feeling a bit worried about our budget (or lack of) and have decided to cut back on any unnecessary non-wedding spending, I managed to avoid the Next sale - very proud of myself!

I am feeling very stiff from all of the running that I have been doing this week, I managed 5 days out of 7 and I can barely sit down, my poor thighs and bum feel like lead.

OH has annoyed me a bit this weekend - he asked someone to be his usher without talking to me about it at all, this person doesn't handle their drink and has made very inappropriate comments about my bust before over dinner at our house - in between groping his wife AT THE TABLE............... hardly a model usher - he makes me feel really uncomfortable. So I was a bit shocked to hear about him being an usher. I had the courtesy to ask OH if he minded my 2 sisters and 1 cousin being bridesmaids before I asked them, so I feel a bit cheated? Kinda left out of my own wedding..... sad I know!

Anyway - I am trying not to ponder it too much, just hoping he takes his role seriously, my Nan will eat him for breakfast if he gets drunk at the wedding. Besides - what do Ushers actually do at the wedding, I really hadn't though of that?

The cleaner at work came up to me today and asked me when I was going to start my diet.....wowsers! SaraCroft Was NOT expecting that question considering that I started it ages ago and have lost almost half a stone, now feeling even more sorry for myself and consoling my ego with a toblerone - not a shop size one, I mean a duty free size toblerone........

Hours running last week = 5 hours

Weight gained = 1lb (probably the toblerone that weighed the same as a baby elephant)

I am hoping tomorrow brings more excitement, less toblerone and even less exposure to the office cleaner

The "Sara" veil

So - last week I was in bridal despair - I had no planning enthusiasm and was feeling so lost in comparison to all the other 2010 brides, who seem to have planned their entire wedding days already.

I posted a thread and so many lovely Hitchers responded and told me not to worry, I wasn't disorganised/lazy and that they often felt the same...

I then posted asking the hitchers where they got their wedding inspiration/themes from.......... I was curious as I have none of my own - it has all come from magazines, blogs, hitchers weddings etc I was pleased to read the threads responses and learnt that other brides felt the same - some poeple of course have the wedding all planned out from age 5 - but that is not me, at all, I really don't have a clue what we want......

SO.........last month one of the England football team WAGS got wed, (Carly Zucker) I bought OK mag and had a leaf through their wedding pics as I had heard that her dress was a lot like mine..... I found this photo and my heart lept - I love the veil, I think it is one of the most beautiful classic bridal things I have seen

It isn't the best pic - but the veil has a 3.5cm ribbon edge and I Heart it, I really do, I knew that I had to have one...........I was web browsing this morning, not purposefully looking for anything, other than wasting time and I found this

http://www.dream-veils.co.uk/2.html

It must be fate if it is named after me??? Surely ????

Anyway @ 126 Inches it costs about £100 - so in reality I need to get myself on ebay and find a second hand one, but oh how lovely it is and how lovely it looks with our Carly's dress, I must have one, must must must!!

Finally on track it seems!

Firstly hurrah for me working out how to blog!

Secondly hurrah for me finally getting the planning mojo back - admittedly there is not much for me to do for the next few months, I don't want to do too much until 6 months before the big day as I am too likely to change my mind on the little details

So between now and Christmas this is THE LIST:

1) Pay florist deposit

2) Meet Ruth @ Finesse (assisting us with her the design and support service)

3) Book Registrar

4) Send Save the Dates

5) Save up as much £ as we can

6) Lose a stone ( me not him!!)

So ......I don't think that our list is scary, I was previously petrified of all things weddings - but I am no longer running away from the concept of marriage; now that I have seen a few Hitchers weddings come together over the last month - I am actually quite excited.

To kick start our list I have signed up to the the wedding weight loss - so far have lost approx 6lbs and been to the gym twice this week - we are both eating much healthier and it feels good. I have a meeting with the dress maker on 17th October - I so need to be able to fit into the dress ( my big fat behind tore the dress last time I tried it on- major bridezilla moment ensued )

We managed to cut our guest list right down at the weekend, my parents came over and we went from 90 guests to 59 adults and 6 children, this is going to save us about £3000, huge weight off our shoulders as the budget was spiralling out of control! Although I am sure there will be a few disgruntled Aunts/cousins/nephews etc who will simply have to come to terms with the fact that R & I are NOT the Beckhams and we cannot afford to have all our our families present at our wedding.....easier said that done right???

So all in all I feel really positive, this wedding planning lark can be fun, if you can relax enough and try not to take it too seriously :)

testing!!

testing!!
