Rent-A-Dress

by Fran @ Hitched

If your wedding budget doesn’t allow the purchase of a new dress or you’ve decided to plan your wedding in just six weeks, then why not consider hiring one! Something Borrowed based in London in an online hire hub for savvy brides wanting to look super stylish but without paying the usual costs.

In four simple steps, brides-to-be can hire the wedding dress of their dreams, eliminating the time that some wedding dresses may take to be designed or ordered, and the cost. Something Borrowed also supply bridesmaids dresses too, so if your best girls are too busy to hit the high street, this could be the ultimate answer.

I caught up with the team at Something Borrowed to find out more when it comes to hiring a wedding bridal and bridesmaid wear!

Q: What type of bride does ‘Something Borrowed’ work best for?

Something Borrowed works best for the savvy bride who spends smartly, always looks stylish and stays worry free without compromising on quality or design. Hiring a wedding dress makes for some serious savings that a bride can keep, put towards an extended honeymoon, an extra special holiday or for an important shared project with her new husband. Brides will always be able to keep the full wedding experience with the memories digitally captured for perfect recall at great value and no worry.

Q: Do your wedding dresses cover every size?

We cover sizes 4-26.  If any of our current styles are not available in a bride’s preferred size, we can easily order or have it made as most of our designs are produced in London.

Q:Do brides come for a fitting in a store, or is everything ‘borrowed’ online?

We have partner stores in London and for rest of the UK everything is done online and from the comfort of bride’s own home including a risk-free 24 hour return policy on all items with our 'Try Before You Rent' option.

Q: What if a bride is having a destination wedding? Can the borrowing time be extended?

Absolutely. We also deliver and pick up direct to location if necessary.

Q: Besides wedding and bridesmaids dresses, what else can a bride hire from ‘Something borrowed’?

smthBorrowed.com offers exclusive bride & bridesmaid collections, bridal accessories and styling services.  Bride collections have been designed exclusively for smthBorrowed.com by independent British designers Lillian Mayro, Eva Letova, Evelyn London and Rozeva.  Up and coming headwear designer Camilla Carrington has created an exclusive collection for smthBorrowed.com. Accessory rentals start at £15. An extensive selection of high end shoes and clutches are available for purchase from luxury footwear designer Karen K. We also offer the pick from the cream of the crop of previously owned designer wedding dresses from happily married brides who want them to bring joy and beauty to another bride and not be left neglected in the back of the wardrobe.

Q: Do you have a particular design that is more popular than others?

Yes.  It is a very simple shimmering cream classic A-line wedding dress in silk with sweet heart bust, rear buttons and train (by Evelyn London) that gives its wearer a royal welcome stands out as the most popular dress so far.

Q:How far in advance does a wedding dress from ‘Something Borrowed’ need to be reserved?

Some dresses can be borrowed the same day, though for the most popular styles we would suggest booking at least 3 months in advance.

If you’re interested in renting your wedding dress or a collection of bridesmaids dresses from Something Borrowed, be sure to contact them directly. And, we’d love to feature your real wedding on hitched once you come back from your honeymoon!
