In order to get to know your wedding photographer, and their
style, it’s a great idea to book an engagement shoot shortly after your
engagement and in advance of your big day.
An engagement shoot will not only build rapport between the couple and
the photographer, but it could also build confidence and make the bride and
groom-to-be feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

'Engagement shoots are becoming increasingly popular with
couples in the UK, not only because it's a great way of celebrating and marking
their engagement, but also because it’s such a fun way to get great portraits’ say’s
Matt Foden, owner of Foden Photography (www.fodenphotography.com). ‘We
also find that it really helps couples to feel more relaxed in front of the
camera, and this really puts them at ease on their wedding day itself' adds Matt.
You may be able to use your engagement shoot photographs on
your save the date cards, by perhaps posing with the date of your wedding on a
wooden plaque or sign. There’s also the
option of turning your engagement images into magnets keyrings to send out
before your official invitations.

Your engagement shoot can take place anywhere you
desire. Most couples choose a park, the
sea side or a location with wide open spaces; others simply choose the place
they got engaged. An engagement shoot
should be all about fun and getting to know your wedding photographer.
Throughout the month of March 2013, you have the opportunity
to WIN one of two engagement shoots on the hitched.co.uk competitions page,
courtesy of Foden Photography. Click here to find out more.
