About Jay Archer
“I have always loved the natural world and been in tune with
the changing seasons. I signed up to an evening course in floristry when I was younger and loved it - so have been studying ever since, completing my last course in May
2011. Now, at the age of 25, I finally have my own business and work from my
home based workshop. It has been a real labour of love, but I am proud of what
I have achieved in a relatively short amount of time.”

Your favourite design?
“It would be near impossible to choose a favourite piece… I
have favourites for different reasons. I’ll always love the flowers I created
for my first wedding, but then I believe you are only as good as your last job
and I try and push myself to be better every time! Also, the change in seasons
brings different challenges and ingredients so things are constantly changing-
there’s always something new to get excited about… if pushed, my top three
pieces would probably be…
~ A bouquet I created for a shoot last Spring called The
Knot Garden. It comprised all British grown ingredients including succulents,
tulips, weeping pear, hellebores and roses. I love the depth of colour, and the
drama of the piece which matches the dress by Joanne Fleming Design
beautifully.
~ A heart wreath for Helen and Matt’s wedding at Oakley
Hall. I create a lot of these for weddings, and they’re one of my favourite
things to make. I like this one particularly because of the Autumnal tones.
~ A piece I created as part of a long table centre. I love
the pure whites and nude coloured, scented roses and stocks finished off with
the gold vessel. It’s quite a refined piece for me, but it’s sumptuous,
luxurious and almost edible!"
