I was browsing through the hitched.co.uk wedding cakes inspiration gallery over the weekend when I came across a beautiful and delicious looking selection of savoury wedding cakes.
I immediately got in touch with Sandie Belton – the co-owner of C’est Cheese (www.cestcheese.co.uk) who told me a little bit about the background and growth of her wonderful and creative idea. Having worked with food since the age of 19 and having had a close relationship with cheese for the past decade, Sandie truly is the expert when it comes to wedding cakes designed of cheese.
“I am the one at the end of a meal that doesn't order dessert and always gets the cheeseboard. When we have dinner parties my friends know not to expect sweet dessert but always get an amazing grazing cheeseboard - hot and cold!” say’s Sandie.

“I started C'est Cheese with a fellow friend and Cheese Mistress because we both realised that not everyone loves fruit cake. This was bought home to me with a bang last year when one of my sons got married and we provided a Wedding Cheese Cake for the evening. The popularity of it actually surprised me though I really should have known better!”
Choosing which cheeses to have on your wedding cheese cake can be a fun and exciting task for the two of you to plan. Sandie and her team can help ensure that the right mixture of cheese works well for both the style of your wedding, and venue as well as the variety of guests that you will be inviting to your big day. “There’s no point in having something strong and unique if your guests aren’t that adventurous – but on the flip side, the aroma of a ripe and gooey French Camembert may not bode well with the warmth of the room during your reception” quoted Sandie.
Sandie also mentioned that the best wedding cheese cakes that they develop are chosen to suit the bride and groom – as the cake can be as unique as they are.

I also learned that there are twice as many different types of cheese made here in the UK than there are in France, but apparently most people can’t name 6 British cheeses!
If you love the thought of having a cheese wedding cake then why not get in touch with C’est Cheese via hitched.co.uk. A cheese wedding cake could look amazing on your wedding reception buffet, and doesn’t necessarily have to be in replacement of a fruit or sponge wedding cake – there’s nothing wrong with having both!

Click here to contact the team at C’est Cheese directly – and, if you book and pay for your cheese wedding cake before July 2012 then you’ll be entitled to a 10% discount when mentioning hitched.
