Leap Day Proposal Ideas
If you’re fed up waiting for your boyfriend to pop the
question or you’re a confident woman wanting to tie the knot in a hurry then
why not consider proposing on Leap Day, which happens to be next Wednesday, February
29th, 2012.
Our friends at Shropshire Petals have come up with a few
ideas to help make the presentation of your proposal truly beautiful, and romantic.
~ If you want your friends and family to share the
moment you propose to your fella then why not cook his favourite meal – or book
a restaurant, but invite everyone. You
could decorate the table with gorgeous, fragrant petals, and then after your
meal, write ‘will you marry me’ in chocolate around his dessert plate.
~ If you prefer to propose alone then why not
plan to go for a nice walk in order to calm your nerves. Take along a picnic with a lovely bottle of
wine or Champagne
to open before handing your man an envelope. Lead him down a petal path of clues, to eventually find a ring or message of
proposal.
~ Or, for a more traditional proposal, why not set out a bed of
natural petal confetti so that you can pop the question down on bended knee. With the beautiful setting and your beaming smile, he'll be sure to say yes.
Years ago in many countries it was dictated that if a man
should refuse a woman’s proposal on February 29th that he has to buy
her 12 pairs of gloves. This was so the
woman could hide the embarrassment of not wearing an engagement ring. Other traditions dictate that men refusing the proposal
were expected to pay a penalty such as a gown or money. If only those traditions still existed!
Leap days only come around once every 1461 days, so don’t delay
your proposal until 2016.
