The Inspiration Behind The Wedding Scene in Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1
Over the past few years, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan have
become household names, purely for their fantastic appearances in the Twilight
collection of blockbuster movies. We’ve seen actors Robert Pattinson and
Kristen Stewart develop a magical relationship both on and off set– but it was their recent wedding scene in Twilight:
Breaking Dawn Part 1 that captured our hearts.
Wedding scenes in the movies give us at home inspirational
ideas for our own weddings. I remember
watching the wedding scene from Father of the Bride over and over again when I
was younger – simply because it was my idea of the perfect day. I’m also a huge
fan of the wedding scene in Love Actually and the preparation that Carrie
Bradshaw went through for her first wedding to Mr. Big was simply fabulous –
although the outcome was a shame.
I’ve been lucky enough to interview Tammy Polatsek, a renowned upscale party and event planner based in New York, and the
woman solely responsible for designing Edward and Bella’s wedding scene in
Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1. I wanted to see what was behind the mind of
such an important wedding scene, knowing that there were millions of Twilight
fans around the globe who had been waiting to watch the moment Edward and Bella say ‘I
do’.
Fran: What or who inspired you when designing the set for
the Edward and Bella's wedding in Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1.
Tammy: Since the wedding took place in a forest, we wanted
to mimic the life that a forest can give you.
We drew inspiration from the surrounding trees, stones, ferns, and
everything else that grows in a forest.

Fran: What was your favourite wedding accessory used on the
set?
Tammy: My dishes, of
course!!
If you loved the dishes used on set during the wedding scene
then they are available to buy online.

Fran: How did you choose the colour scheme, and do you think
this will be popular throughout 2012 weddings?
Tammy: Again, since
the wedding was in the forest, I went with the natural beauty and colors that
you would find in that setting, natural tones, wood, moss, browns, greens, and
whites.
Fran: What exciting and new ideas do you predict for
weddings during the summer of 2012?
Tammy: Anything
earthy and real to nature will bring in that look. Use a green, white, and brown combination,
and keep it simple. Nature is beautiful; you don’t need to overwork it!
