A Touch of Vintage...

You may think it a little weird to have a birdcage at your wedding, but in actual fact birdcages are now a trendy, useful and decorative accessory!

Birdcages are perfect for a vintage style wedding. Fill them with flowers to decorate your venue or pop them in the middle of your wedding reception tables as centrepieces.  They work well as centrepieces because people can see over them, rather than have to dodge around a tall vase or candelabra.

Birdcages are also a great alternative to a wedding post box. Your guests can simply pop the cards that they bring to your wedding into the birdcage so that they are kept safe all day.My friend Kathleen decorated the below birdcage for her wedding last November which had an autumnal colour scheme of brown and orange.

I was in my local TK Maxx on Sunday morning and they had a ton of birdcages that I thought would be perfect for any bride looking for this accessory. I saw them in white, ivory, brown and black, which could be personalised to match any wedding colour scheme.  Some of them had a candle holder inside them which you could always cover with flowers or even have an unlit candle inside for effect.

The nice thing about birdcages is that you can decorate them how you want and encorporate the your wedding colour shcheme into this accessory by using flowers, bows or ribbons.

You can see a huge selection of wedding decor ideas in the hitched.co.uk galleries or if you have recently decorated your own wedding birdcage send over a pic and I can pop it into the hitched galleries for other brides to gain inspiration from.  Email me directly - planwithfran@hitched.co.uk
