Weddings, reviews, gossip and shoes...................a view from a girl who lives, breathes and dreams - weddings!

Could you make a wedding dress for a tenner?

This month on hitched.co.uk we have focused on wedding budgets, money and finance.  With tips on how to negotiate your way to a brilliant day, to building a budget and bargain bling I thought that we had everything covered......until I read all about Mary Jane Baxters idea yesterday morning.

Mary Jane Baxter is a talented milliner who also writes and reports on fashion, style and travel around the country.  With a lot of royal wedding dress designer stories flying around at the moment Mary Jane took up a challenge from BBC TV's Breakfast to come up with a wedding dress for £10. Inspired by catwalk trends and using materials from markets, charity shops and friends, she's created not one, but three stunning outfits, all coming in at well under the target price!

To see how she achieved this, tune in to BBC Breakfast News tomorrow morning.  I can't wait to see what materials she used!

If you aren't as crafty as Mary Jane, but would still like to gain inspiration on how to wear an amazing dress on a budget then my ideas below might be helpful...

- Could you adapt a 'nearly new' wedding dress to suit your style?  Maybe your grandmother or member of your family have a vintage dress somewhere in the loft that you could recycle
- Go to bridalwear shop sample sales in your area and see if you can find the perfect dress off the rack
- Designers who attend wedding fairs usually offer a discount or special offers if you order your dress on the day. Visit the wedding fair section on hitched for further info
- Check out your local charity shops for your wedding or bridesmaids dresses
- If a discount isn't an option on your dream dress see if the shop or designer will accommodate your budget by offering extras like a tiara, veil or maybe even a pair of shoes
- Look at high street stores like Monsoon and BHS for affordable gowns, or check out the Fab frocks under £500 article on the hitched homepage this month for further inspiration

If you have been crafty with your wedding dress or found an amazing bargain do send in a photo!I would love to hear your story.
