With Russell Brand spotted out shopping for rings, I started thinking about engagements and what a special occasion it can be.

They have not been together for long, but could it be that Katy Perry has managed to tame Russell Brand and rid him of his notorious womanising ways?

The comedian was spotted in posh jewellers Cartier shopping for what looked suspiciously like an engagement ring last week and it has been rumoured that he could be booking a wedding venue in the future, too.

Photographs clearly show the star trying a diamond on one finger and according to one shop assistant, Katy may be in for a very happy Christmas indeed.

The source told the News of the World: "His face lit up when he saw this one diamond ring. He put it on his hand and he just gazed at it for ages, deep in contemplation."

I love how special getting engaged is and I bet some people never beat that feeling of saying yes to the person they love.
