Weddings abroad – are they a good idea?
Following the news that Mickey Rourke may get married in Russia, I started to wonder if tying the knot overseas is a good idea.
It has been revealed that actor Mickey Rourke is set to marry his Russian girlfriend Elena Kuletskaya - and they could do so at a wedding venue in her home country.
Despite the significant age gap between the two and the fact that they've only been together for a few months, the Sin City star got down on one knee and popped the question during a romantic dinner.
A source told the New York Post: "They haven't booked a venue or made any solid plans. He just knows he wants to do it in April and he's been asking what is involved in a traditional Russian wedding ceremony."
I love the idea of a Russian wedding, it could be so magical and beautiful, especially if there is plenty of snow around.
However, it's a long way from home for Mickey and I've started to think about weddings overseas.
Although it could be amazing to get married on a beach or a beautiful European city, it's likely to be a long way for guests to travel - not to mention expensive - and many may have to turn down the wedding invitations.
Would you like to get hitched abroad? Or is it more important to have a wedding closer to home that everyone can easily attend?
