Is it important to spend big on your wedding day?
I know that
weddings are expensive affairs and everything from the wedding cake to the
flowers and the invitations cost money.
However, it
seems as though one footballer could be spending even more on his nuptials than
usual if his girlfriend gets her way.
The Daily
Star has reported that Arsenal player Andrey Arshavin could fork out as much as
£5 million for his big day.
This is
because his girlfriend Yulia has her heart set on a spectacular wedding venue
in Russia.
She said:
"My dream is to have our wedding celebration on Vassilievski Island in St
Petersburg, with lots of tables covered with snow-white cloths and champagne
poured into beautiful crystal glasses."
This got me
thinking about how much people spend on their ceremonies. Although I
think it is important to do what makes you happy, I don't think over-the top
decorations and lavish settings are the most important thing.
For me,
weddings are about being with the person you love and having your friends and
family around you as you decide to spend the rest of your lives together.
Do you agree? Or are a fabulous dress and a
great party an important part of getting hitched?
