Young sweethearts tying the knot

They're only just starting to shake off the teeny-bopper image that they garnered via their roles in the hugely successful High School Musical franchise, but Hollywood sweethearts Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron are apparently ready to take one of the biggest steps in adulthood - marriage.

Reports have surfaced in the News of the World that Vanessa and Zac, 20 and 21 years old respectively, are planning to set the date for their big day in secret to ensure that everything goes off without a hitch.  

While this all sounds romantic, some people might argue that the pair are very young to be tying the knot. Getting wed early in life certainly did no favours for stars like Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and Peaches Geldof for example.

However, they have in fact been dating since they were around 16, so perhaps that makes all the difference. They have been a couple for longer than many 30-something-year-olds are when they decide to say their I dos, so just because they are young shouldn't mean that they are any less in love or less suitable for each other.

Some people spend years searching for their soul mate, but it seems that Vanessa and Zac have found theirs in each other. If they are 100 per cent certain that it is right, then why shouldn't they commit themselves to each other with a big day, a gorgeous wedding dress and wedding cake?
