Movie-inspired weddings - a thing of the future?
A beautiful wedding ceremony is one of the best ways to start a long and loving marriage, so it is important for many couples that their big day goes off without a hitch.
But when it comes to deciding on the important things like the wedding venue, theme and wedding dress, where should brides and grooms-to-be seek inspiration?
I think turning to the movies for some guidance is a great idea. There must be dozens of romantic comedies out there featuring beautiful weddings - and Mamma Mia starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan is one of them.
In fact, one London-based travel agency offers a Mamma Mia package, which flies couples to the Greek islands of Skiathos and Skopelos, where they can recreate the rustic wedding setting of the movie. Apparently, many couples who have tied the knot there have even insisted on playing the entire Abba movie soundtrack during the nuptials to make the most of the location!
I think this is a great idea - it's fun, quirky and sure to be unforgettable. But what about those of us who aren't quite as fussed on Abba?
Other wedding-themed movies worth taking a look at include Four Weddings and a Funeral, Muriel's Wedding and Father of the Bride - who could forget that gorgeous garden ceremony? Even the hilarious wedding scene in Napoleon Dynamite on top of the beautiful windy mountain could be used as a blueprint for the perfect nuptials.
Have you ever been to, or would you consider a movie-inspired wedding?
