A wedding dance with a difference
It seems that YouTube really is a shortcut to fame - at least if the experience of one newlywed couple from Minnesota is anything to go by.
The video sharing website may once have been home to little but You've Been Framed-style high jinks, but as Susan Boyle's rise to prominence in the US showed, it now has enough viewers to create genuine stars.
And the latest of those stars are Jillian Peterson and Kevin Heinz, after they posted their quirky wedding video, which showed them dancing into their wedding venue.
The fun clip struck a chord with YouTube users and after six million views, they were invited on to national television to recreate the moment they danced energetically up the aisle to the cheers of a slightly stunned congregation.
Jillian and Kevin are loving the publicity their unique wedding has generated, and it seems certain that other couples will begin posting their unconventional wedding videos on the internet.
It could be argued that such gimmicks are a little tacky, but while I'm a traditionalist myself, I can't agree with that view.
A wedding day should be fun, memorable and above all, personal. If the bride and groom want to dance down the aisle, hold a ceremony underwater or dress up as pirates for their big day, where is the harm, as long as they enjoy it?
Would you ever, or are you planning to do this type of thing at your wedding?
