A wedding to forgive and forget
All couples go through their ups and downs, in fact, a relationship could not possibly be normal if a pair live in pure and constant bliss. Men and women who have been together for a while before posting their wedding invitations are sure to experience a bit of a rough patch - some to a greater extent than others. But I don't think anyone could match what Candy Lyons and her fiance Robert Goldthorpe have endured.
When the pair threw a dinner party for a few of their friends at their home in West Sussex back in March, Candy discovered her partner in a compromising position with one of her pals - he was standing over her with his trousers down around his ankles. In a frenzied fit of jealous rage, the 38-year-old picked up a knife and drove it into his back, resulting in a wound that required nine stitches.
Candy was later arrested and had to stand at Lewes Crown Court. Luckily, however, her beloved Robert wrote an emotional letter to the judge, appealing for leniency on his partner because he still loved her - and she was ultimately spared with a one-year suspended sentence.
Now the unfortunate business is a distant memory and the pair are in the midst of wedding planning. "We have a very strong relationship, we've been through a lot together," Candy mused.
"We decided to get engaged and set a date of March 20, 2010. It's really something it's about time we did."
If this is not evidence that true love conquers all then I don't know what is!
Have you ever heard a wedding story as extreme as this?
