Mr and Mrs Cole give wedding wealth to charity
Who says that footballers and their Wags don't give back to the world? They may spend thousands on wedding planning and hosting the most lavish nuptials, and they may pay only the top designers to create the all-important wedding dress, but when it comes to sharing that wealth, some can be regarded as saints.
At least that can be said of Chelsea star Joe Cole and his new wife Carly Zucker - whose wedding has benefited people in need from all over the UK.
The pair, who tied the knot last weekend at London's Chelsea Royal Hospital, sold the rights of their nuptials to a glossy magazine - like most of them do! But rather than use the £2 million fee to buy a garishly grand country retreat or to have a tanning salon installed in their home, they gave the money to charity.
Granted, with a weekly wage packet of nearly £100,000, the newlyweds hardly needed the money - but it really is the thought that counts. I think that Carly in particular has been presented by the press in a negative light over the past few years. She is one of the original Wags from the World Cup 2006 and she has been forced to carry that stigma. But hopefully all that will change now that we have seen her generous side.
Using your wedding to raise funds for charity - is this something you would consider?
