Footballers and their WAGs

Portsmouth star Sol Campbell has reportedly popped the question to his interior designer girlfriend with a £100,000 engagement ring.

Fiona Barratt, who is the granddaughter of famous Newcastle tycoon Sir Laurie Barratt, is certainly a lucky girl, but things did not start out so well for the couple.

Fiona had been working for Sol's former girlfriend, top interior designer Kelly Hoppen, who had been refurbishing the footballer's £3 million townhouse in Chelsea.

However, when the couple called time on their relationship, Kelly flew the nest leaving the interior job to her then assistant Fiona. As romantic fate would have it, Fiona and Sol quickly became an item and have been together ever since.  

If she is as good at wedding planning as she is at coordinating the interior design of homes, then Fiona should not have a problem staging a wonderfully lavish bash.

But, I wonder if the wedding invitations will be sent out to the string of footballers and WAGs undoubtedly on their speed dial with a follow-up exclusive magazine deal - or will they opt for a more low-key and elegant affair?
