Tori Spelling enjoys wedding ring tradition
For most married couples, months and sometimes years of wedding planning leads to the dream day when they finally exchange their rings for the first and last time. However, in the glamorous world of Beverley Hills 90210 actress Tori Spelling, she gets to relive that privilege every year.
The actress told People magazine that her husband Dean McDermott has started up a new tradition whereby he gives her a brand new ring every year on their anniversary. "Every year when he slips it on my ring finger, it reminds me of the day he made me his wife and we started our amazing journey together," she explained.
Having sent out wedding invitations to only a small number of their closest family and friends, Tori and Dean tied the knot in a quiet yet lavish ceremony in Fiji in May 2006. As such, this week saw the pair celebrate their third anniversary, which means 35-year-old Mrs McDermott must already have a collection of four rings.
As a jewellery lover, that idea certainly appeals to me, but more than anything, it is the sentiment attached to the tradition that I think brings a tear to the eye. In years to come, when the pair are old and grey, Tori will be able to pass her 50-plus ring collection onto her children as a true celebration of her marriage with Dean.
Do you know of anyone who started up their own marriage tradition after the wedding day?
