Would you go under the knife to look better on your wedding day?
Considering a girl thinks about her wedding day from when she is old enough to play dress up in her mum's high heels and makeup, it should come as no surprise that there is an extreme emphasis on ensuring the day is perfect.
Indeed, loved-up couples scout wedding venues and book their receptions years ahead of the big day just to ensure it all runs smoothly, while things like menus for the dinner and wedding cake toppers are pondered over with the kind of deliberation expected at a G20 summit.
But, since when did wedding planning have to be so painful - literally?
Cosmetic surgery clinic SurgiCare recently recorded a 75 per cent rise in the number of women seeking boob jobs - 60 per cent of whom with the intention of looking better on their wedding day.
Maria Yiannikaris, who owns the Mirror Mirror bridal shops in north London, told the Telegraph: "Girls say, 'I need to wait for my fitting', then turn up later with very high and firm breasts."
Now correct me if I'm wrong, losing a few pounds ahead of the wedding day in order to fit into slinky bridal couture is one thing, but actually going under the knife and putting yourself through a potentially horrific and agonising ordeal just to look that little bit more pert on the wedding photos is madness.
And not to mention the expense. I know I would take that additional £6,000 and upgrade to a wedding dress that is out of this world, or put it towards an extended luxury, five-star honeymoon.
If you had to choose between a nice cleavage - after a lot of pain - and an amazing wedding day enjoyed by all your friends and family, which would it be?
