Unsuccessful shopping trip.
My Mum is very fussy when it comes to clothes, so I suggested that we should maybe start looking for an outfit for her to wear at the wedding. She and my Dad came over yesterday, and while Dad continued in his quest to get the Morris Minor going, Mum and I headed to Marks and Spencer in Camberley to see whether they had anything suitable.
There wasn't anything at all! Although we did have fun trying on silly hats and fascinators. Mum wants a dress and a jacket. The problem is that the dress has to have sleeves of some sort, as she hates the tops of her arms. I've no idea what's wrong with the tops of her arms as I've never seen them! Also the dress must not be too low at the front. And it has to be well past the knee. And it mustn't be too full in the skirt. This proved to be an impossible combination for Marks and Spencer. Now, while I'm on the subject: Is it just me or is the Per Una section stuck in a boho time warp from about 5 years ago? We did see a hideous orange thing, but we both agreed that a crochet orange top wasn't suitable for a wedding. So I think she'll have to head off to John Lewis next.
Personally, I think she's better of making something. I'm not sure what she wants really exists, so if she makes something it will be just right.
I now have two wheels off the Morris Minor as the brakes are being replaced. I'm really looking forward to this wedding being over, then I can go back to helping Dad with the car maintenance. I'm letting him get on with it at the moment, as I do tend to slow him down. Or take bits off the car then forget how to put them back. I'm rubbish really!
Iain brought his Capri round and ambushed Dad! Dad hates Fords, but was polite and gracious when Iain insisted on lifting the bonnet to show him the engine. They both ended up with their heads buried in various Haynes manuals which was quite funny. I think I'm marrying my Dad!!
So today, I'm off to Sainsbury's to try and spend as little money as possible as it's still 9 days until pay day and I'm overdrawn. Still at least I get some overtime this month. Hoping it might be enough to pay off my credit card. Although I think I'm going to have to put some stuff on Ebay and get some extra money that way.
Right, better hang the washing out!
