  • Running Kleek - how are you all doing?

After nine months off, I'm back in my running shoes. Did 2.2 miles last night in less than 25 minutes, so was over the moon with that. I'm a bit achey this morning, but in a good way. I've missed running soooo much. Now got to decide what races are definitely on the cards for next year -...

  • Running tips and gadgets

Late as ever for the bandwagon, I'm taking up running. Other than remembering that I have to actually do it regularly to improve or see any benefit, and using a proper training schedule, what are your tips? Other than decent shoes (purchased today from a proper running shop where I was told I have...

  • Running advice - come to Bangkok!

I have been running in Bangkok for 18 months, I consider myself a plodder and find the heat and humidity really difficult - it rarely drops below 30 degrees c when I'm running. However here's a plus!! I came back to the UK on Tuesday, went for a 5km run yesterday and ran it easily 5 minutes faster...

  • Re: Runners - recovery runs

I would say on an exertion scale of 1 - 10 (1 standing, 10 full on sprinting) you probably want to be about a 5-6. If you're doing them, I'd try to do your tempo runs at around a 7-8, and intervals at a 8-9 depending on distance, and interval recoveries again at 5ish. I'm sure the RW website...

  • Runners - recovery runs

How slow is slow for a recovery run? Being a little lighter on my feet, my times are picking up but I can't seem to slow myself back. Mile times for me are now around 10:30 - 11:00, so does that mean I should be slowing down to 12 minute miles? Gah, this half marathon training has suddenly got technical

  • Runners, how you doing?

Well as I posted yesterday saying I'd been out running for the first time in a couple of months, just got back from my second run. Done even better than yesterday and loved it. Feeling great now. I did surprise myself as I could really feel it this morning in my thighs and stomach muscles, but i...

  • Runners - I broke the hour barrier

At last! I decided at the beginning of the year to get fit and have been going to the gym to run 2-3 times a week. I've worked my way up to 8k which takes me 56 minutes (I don't run that fast). For the first time tonight I ran 9k, 62 minutes! it was only 2 minutes over but somehow the psychological...

  • Running with sciatica?

I think I'm suffering from a problem with my sciatic nerve. For while now I've been getting a numb foot while running, I think I jarred my back when 'running' to the hairdressers when late on Friday in flimsy ballet pumps. Now my back is quite sore, mainly in my bum but also down the...

  • Running - why does my foot go numb?

Hi I've not been on here for ages! Right, I'm now just over 2 weeks away from my first 10k run. I've managed to raise £475 sponsorship for an animal shelter (woo hoo), the target was only £400! I'm getting closer to running 10k before the day, I also did it a couple of months...
