The best way to decongest ears?

Ive got a cold but my ears feel like they are full of cotton wool.  Ive been taking nasal and oral decongestants for 3 days and its not any better.

    Should I see my GP?

    Many thanks

Its just annoying, my hearings quite muffled in both ears, I answer 999 calls for a living but I dont want to call in sick.

A few drops of olive oil a couple of times a day works wonders. I know it's horrible, I get it quite often.

I tend to get blocked ears when I get a cold and find that the best over-the-counter remedy is Neurofen Cold and Flu tablets - I don't know what decongestant they contain, but it works for me!

What Zoay said (obviously Laugh).  I use Otravine nasal spray for any bad bouts of blocked sinuses.

I normally find putting some menthol crystals (from chemist) in some boiling water in a bowl, then putting a towel over my head and slowly breathing in helps to unblock my sinuses etc. and it also means I don't have to 'take' anything which I'm not fond of doing.
