  • Stutter in a 2 and a half year old

F talks really well but has had two periods where he has had a stutter.... the last being when we went on holiday so he may have been jet lagged and tired but he stuttered for a couple of weeks - every sentence. Now we are back he does it very occassionally, not often. Should I be worried? Do I need to do anything?

I wouldn't worry at this age.

It seems that it can be a normal phase they go through.

My LO was exactly the same at that age. It seems that there brains are moving so fast they can't get the words out. As you say, tiredness makes it worse.

I would say it's developmental, but just keep an eye out for it.

My LO is just over 3 now and rarely does it any more

Totally What RC says - my nearly 3-year old has stopped doing it now, but went through a phase where he seemed to stutter a bit.  I could see his little brain working furiously but his mouth and vocabulary couldn't keep up.
