Greek style wedding dress ideas?

CSayer, 27 of February of 2010 at 21:42 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi, My OH is greek and so i would love to surprise him with a greek inspired wedding dress. We are not having a Greek themed day but I would like to have something special to reflect his heritage. I have searched some images of dress ideas on the internet but wondered if anyone knew of anywhere specific I could look? Any help would be grateful!

    Thanks everyone.

I love the 2nd one, there's too many nice ones out there.

I will probably change my mind when i try this style on, I think they will suit a slimmer bride than me! my search continues.... :-)

These are the kind of flowy dresses i wanted but when i tried them on i found that was rather too lumpy for them ? but if you like them, give them a try and see what you think!

1st one by 3d's is DEFO an augusta jones. i had a very similar dress by the same designer, same model! it's on her website: http://www.augustajones.com/PastCollections.htm - look at pgs 43-45.

don't know about the other that gem put up.

have you had a look a kula tsurdias (?sp) and jenny packham? they do floatier dresses.

i would also say that i'm a big girl too, and although this dress didn't give me the shape that a corseted or more structured dress would, i was mega comfortable all day, and it managed to make my t1ts look fantastic, whilst hiding everything else!

I tried on some of Kula's dresses and they're to die for!

Also some of the high street stores like Debenhams and monsoon have lovely Grecian influenced wedding dresses

Here are 4 I found, first 2 are Mori Lee, 2nd 2 are Pronovias:

Good luck, think its lovely you want to incorporate your OH's heritage into your big day xxx

My dress was a kula Tsurdiu and similar to Bluewaters. It was so comfortable to wear, she is an amazing dressmaker, well worth a visit if you are anywhere near her!

OOh, some really lovely dresses there.

I was iniitally thinking much more traditional Greek, but the examples others have posted are a lot more elegant.

No chance to nip to Greece quickly and buy one?
I'm going to go to Serbia for mine and get it hand made, because its so much cheaper.

    Hi everyone!
I was thinking - why am I getting all these emails in my inbox then realised that I actually started this thread! oops.

    I forgot all about it!

I'm going dress shopping in 2 weeks, still no idea what style I want/what will suit me but I still really like the Greek style dresses. I'm very, very, very worried and nervous about dress shopping and not looking forward to it at all. I'm not a normal bride!!

Snow-white romantic wedding dresses are still in. There are other less traditional colors to choose from – ivory white, cream, beige, light green and even metallic color. Those who prefer brighter colors may like what renowned Alfred Angelo fashion house has to offer. This season, he is going to preen brides in stunning dresses of different colors, from sea green to Victorian lilaceous and pink. All dress are amazing....

    Some fab ideas here ladies.

I bought my dress last weekend, I tried on about 25 and about three quarters of them were Greek styles, but I have gone for something completely different! ?
