  • Weight loss tips & tricks

    Hi,

This forun is very slow at the moment. Is there anyone out there lurking on weight loss forum? When I 1st started posting on this forum in January there was quite a few other people around talking about their up's and down's of weight loss. I'd love to start a thread which people can add their tips & tricks to weight loss.

So I'll kick start it with 1 of my own which is make sugar free jelly so that if I'm hungry in the evening I can eat & eat without worrying about calories!

I would recommend eating a low card diet and excercising 3-4 times a week. By low carb seriously cut back on bread, pasta and rice and instead of ryveta crackers and pitta bread. In the evenings fill up on fish/meat combined with salad/vegetables. There are lots of delicious low carb recipes that won't leave you hungry. Eating alot of fish and meat can be expensive so alternatively you could but tinned beans (kidney beans, chick peas). Also have one healthy snack about mid morning (nuts, fruit) and am afternoon snack. This way you keep your sugar levels up so you are not "starving" when it comes to dinner time. It takes time, you could expect to see results maybe after 2 months.

It is important to combine this with regular excercise as you loose weight when you excercise and consume less calories from carbs (carbs are very high in calories). I do home work outs about 20 mins of jogging combined with ab crunches and poledancing. You need to do as much cardio as you can as that is how you burn fat. Make sure you don't starve your self and vary your meals.

I second the jelly.  I always have some in the fridge. It lasts a few days no problems in the fridge, you can eat all 6 portions that are in the packet and not feel guilty... unlike some other deserts!

    Hi there

I did a whole combination of things to lose weight for my wedding - rather than go on a diet. They included eating smaller portions, but eating more often (i.e. having snacks like fruit and nuts and rice cakes mid-morning and afternoon etc.)

I also upped my intake of water and green tea and tried to slow myself down when eating!

I cut back on salt and also carbs (but only in the evening - I ate them during the rest of the day).

A biggie was making sure I made time to shop for real food and cook - rather than relying on anything too processed or 'convenient'. And I think in a year my H2B and I probably only had 3 takeaways - whereas we might have had 1 or 2 a month before.

I also walked everywhere a lot more and i think all of the running around I did for the wedding planing helped me to lose weight and get fitter too!

Did loads of other things too - but these are just a few off the top of my head!

How is your weight loss going??

I snack on raw jelly. I can't normally have more than 3 cubes and it stops me from devouring a whole packet of Jelly Babies!Luckily I was never a fan of chocolate.

I've also swapped crisps for ryevita... I work in a remote area but two sandwich vans come round during the day. By making sure I have food (apples, ryevita and weight watchers yoghurt) stashed away in the office removes temptation for cherry shortcake!

Change your lifestyle. If you’re calling this a “diet,” then you’re going to gain all the weight back (and more) within a few months of losing it. Diets do not work. Diets are temporary. When you change your dietary lifestyle, however, you’re changing your habits – and you’re putting yourself on track for long-term / continued success and weight maintenance. Don’t ever tell anybody you’re on a diet – ever. I’m speaking from experience, here – a reformed low-carber. Worked out well for a while, but ultimately failed because my entire lifestyle didn’t change (permanently).

Hi there I second Rossruthers recommendation for no stick sprays, and making salad dressings with out oils... Instead i use white wine vinegar, fresh garlic, fresh Basil, Coriander and chives, Coriander seeds salt and pepper etc.

I'm doing SW and so far so good. Nearly a stone in 2 months. The weight's coming off very slowly but steadily.

I find i always wobble at around 9 at night ...  i think Easter is defo going to be a challenge !
