  • What do you season your mince with for toddlers?

Eilidh refuses my mince and potatoes, probably because I dont tend you use onion in it or any seasoning (I add seasoning to ours, oxo or the like)

However, she wolfed down mince at my mums, which my mum had used and oxo (or 2) in. Is that too salty for her? (she is 22 months)

If it is too salty, what else could I use to make it more tasty?  It is extra lean steak mince.

Having a cooking mind blank today.  Thanks in advance.

If I'm making mince, I use diced carrot and finely chopped onion and the low salt bisto gravy granules to give it some depth of flavour. In the grand scheme of a balanced diet, a small portion of mince with oxo will not be a problem .x.x.x.

I do Onion, Garlic and mixed herbs.

You can use Bovril to beef it up a bit, and then use as little or as much as you want to control the salt level

When we do mince i use onion, carrots, peppers and mixed herbs then add stock cube or gravy granuels. When they were really small I bought the low salt one but now at 4 and 2 we just have normal ones. The amount with make to one or two stock cubes in is enough for us 4 for a meal plus a portion for H for freezer for my work nights plus 2-3 portions for the kids in freezer so the amount of salt they get is not loads so I dont worry to much as they  eat very healthy lots of fruit and veg

Tesco do low-salt vegetable stock cubes in their 'Free from' section. I use them and also add garlic and a few herbs.

    Thank you.

I put a wee bit of low salt bisto in it, and she took some of it.

Next time I will use onions and garlic. I prefer it without, but it means she can share our meal.

    Thank you all.

I use a dash of Worcestershire sauce, finely chopped onions and herbs - often sage or rosemary. And also jazz it up with lots of carrots, peas, beans, oh and a tin of tomatoes, so it's all the veg in with it for extra flavour as well.
