  • i've had the call and im not happy :(

Well the lady phoned to say the dress was in and the remainder of the money had to be paid. Ok im fine with that i always knew that then i asked if i could try it on.......If i try the dress on then its coming out of there warehouse so then i need to take it home as they cant take it back to there warehouse or i dont try it on but need to wait about a year until i at least see it!

its just rubbish because i was pinned into a dress that was about 4 sizes to big for me so i had to imagine how it would look and where certain bits would be pulled in and tucked up.

nothing so far that i have planned for this wedding has went right. Happy crappy valentines day Sad

  • Re: i've had the call and im not happy :(

Aw Fi that is rubbish and I just don't understand why they have those rules when every bride is going to want to try their dress on.

Don't know what else to say but I'd call the shop back and say you aren't happy and explain you want reassurance about how the dress will look on etc.

How is everything else coming along?

    xx

Its just really unfair as i want to know what mine will look like on me!  i have nowhere to keep in in the house so it looks like i'm going to have to wait the year.

Went for our wedding rings the other week. He flew up escpecially for it then they wouldnt give me mine because it needed resized and it would take 4 days, took his then went back out the next weekend to pick up mine. Got home to notice one of the diamonds had fell out!!!!!!! How angry was i, the ring was over 1k and you would expect to receive it in perfect  condition.

i'm reluctant to do anything weddingy at all.i must be the most moodiest bride2be on val day!

  • Re: i've had the call and im not happy :(

You aren't having a good time of it but things can only get better. Has your ring been fixed now? We haven't even ordered our wedding rings and only ave 15 weeks to go so you are mega organised.

You still have heaps of time so why not have a break from planning for a month and then start again. x

so you cant even see it?

  • Re: i've had the call and im not happy :(

Thats so not fair, every bride wants to try her dress on as soon as it arrives and ive never heard of that before have you asked them why they cant take it back to the wearhouse and also when are you supposed to check it for any damage or buttons ets missing. i would be furious.

I got your email the other week i replied but not too sure if you got it or not as im having problems with the email at the moment.

send me another if you fancy a wee natter xx

  • Re: i've had the call and im not happy :(

That is just pure laziness on their part, I would demand to see the wedding dress I am PAYING them for!

Pop into the shop when they have customers and ask to see your dress and if they give you the same speel...repeat what they say but loud discreetly enough for the rest of the shop to hear, that might change their mind Smile

  • Re: i've had the call and im not happy :(

There's no way I would be happy paying the rest of the balance without seeing the dress and trying it on again.  I agree with debs in that you should actually go into the shop and ask hte question and see what they say with a shop full of brides to be  stood there.

  • RERe: i've had the call and im not happy :(

That's crazy!  How can you pay the balance without checking it?  It might not even be the right dress or something mad like that!  Did they warn you about this when you ordered it?

  • RERe: i've had the call and im not happy :(

To be honest, given the current economic climate I would try the dress on and then take it home. I would prefer to have it in my possession, safe at home at the moment.

  • Re: i've had the call and im not happy :(

I am desperate to see it since

    1. i want to make sure it is in perfect condition

    2. i want to know it is the right size and of course the right dress!

When purchasing the dress i was told that when the dress arrives final payment should be paid and im ok with that. Never once was i told that i wouldnt be able to see it unless it was for a fitting!

also if your not getting fittings done with the shop then you have to take it home they wont store it for you. I was getting my fittings done through the shop and when i said that today she said its too early for fittings i said i know i just want to try it on as the one in the shop was 4 sizes to big just to see what it properly looks like.

They do not have the manpower to pick up dresses and drop them back off, so you need to give them 3 days notice to take it out of the warehouse and then you need to take home! or wait a year to try on!

not a happy bride2be to say the least.

Its always the same though shops always want you in all nicey nice then when they get your money they turn into crabby people.

Beth29 i never got your email Sad

so after a day of tears and tantrums i might just take the dress home and put it in my papa's house! he's be well chuffed knowing he looked after the dress for a year, lol

  • RERe: i've had the call and im not happy :(

I think putting it in your papa's house sounds like the best option!

One tiny thing though:  Do you have wedding insurance?  If so, check the small print to see if your dress is covered at his house should there be any mishaps.

Which I'm sure there won't be!

no wedding insurance has been purchased yet as some places only let you do it a year before and i still have over a year.  i'm just fed up i just want married! i think me and him will just jet off somewhere and then its all be done and all the stupid stress gone!

Now I'm coming at this from the point of view of a bridal shop, but here are my thoughts:

    - I don't think it's reasonable to ask someone to pay a balance on a dress they haven't seen.  You need to check that it's correct.  OK, it's unlikely, but an error could have been made, or there could feasibly be a fault that can't be seen until the dress is tried on.  I'm not saying this to worry you - it's highly unlikely, but once your balance is paid it leaves you in a more unfavourable position with regard to getting anything put right.

    - Once your balance is paid, the dress belongs to you.  I would want to know what the situation is with insurance (the shop's insurance may not cover your dress once ownership passes to you, which means you may need to insure it).

    - Personally, I wouldn't be happy leaving my dress in the shop's care once it belongs to me.  Whilst actually the wedding industry is probably one of the safest ones around at the moment, there are no guarantees, and you don't want to find yourself in a position where you're having to fight to get a dress that rightfully belongs to you if the shop went out of business.  I'd take it home and find somewhere for it to be stored.

    - Check your terms and conditions before you take it up with the shop.  Is it possible that there is a clause in there that explains the storage situation?

    All the best!

  • Re: RERe: RERe: i've had the call and im not happy :(

the only thing is says is you have 28 days to pay the balance and check the order is correct failure to do so results in a storage charge of £50 a month.

how can i check it if they wont let me see it?

personally i just want it home now and i will find someone to alter it myself!
