Very excited, slightly worried about money etc as I'm not working at the moment - but have discovered moneysavingexpert and am in awe of how little they can spend - we'll just have to make changes!
Charlotte - she's doing so well, thank you for asking. We were at Great Ormond St last week for an overnighter, for her 5th cycle of chemo and IVIg (another immune-y type infusion that takes so damned long). It was our first appointment then since we moved back south and we met her new Dr who seems very good. We've got a more detailed plan of treatment, which included one more cycle of chemo next month and then that'll be the end of that. She'll remain on the mild chemo drug, which is used really commonly in children with other auto-immune conditions such as arthritis and she'll also stay on the steroids. Finishing the chemo means she can start nursery in February, which I'm so pleased about. I think she's thrived being at home with me all this time, but she really needs to start being with other children again and realising she's not queen bee all the time!
We need to decide whether we'll have her central line (IV access via a tube that enters at her chest, tunnelled under her skin, under her collar bone and enters a major vein in her neck) removed, or to leave it for now. Removing it means monthly bloods the normal way, with 'magic cream' and weekly injections for the milder drug. Leaving it means no needles, but the constant worry of having it, the risks involved, but she can't go swimming. Apparently it's up to me and H...
You got the long version there! I've not updated properly about her for a while, I have been meaning to but I've not got around to it.
How are you? Was very pleased to read the Hitched awards about your C!
