  • boys and girls in blue?

why do people say this when they clearly wear black uniforms not blue ones?

  • Re: boys and girls in blue?

the trousers are very very dark navy Laugh

i'm guessing in the days when they wore tunics and not fleeces and stab vests, they were blue too...

  • Re: boys and girls in blue?

<hands pyschs her clearly very black police fleece>

well modern uniforms are predominently black, so the boys in blue thing must be a historic saying. i think it used to be just the tie and epaulets that were black...

    there's thin blue line too

  • Re: boys and girls in blue?

i got told off by the boys in bluey black today.thats what prompted my post tbh.

they saw  me coming in with the dog,who graqnted is  rather muscly and has to wear a harness  because shes too strong for a lead, and came up my drive to check i had a beware of the dog  sign up. they couldnt see one so knocked and told me off for having a staff without displaying a warning sign...i do have one it had just fallen off the ledge,so i stuck it to the window with clear tape lol.

my dog is so dangerous, she licks people on command

I didn't realise Beware of the dog signs had to be displayed if you own a dog. Or is it only certain dogs? My mum doesn't display one.

The boys in blue questioned my husband early Sunday morning.  He was looking at a customer's van that had broken down on a housing estate. MrKB pulled up in my car, walked to the van, took out the key and climbed in.  They asked him to step out of the vehicle and questioned what he was doing. MrKB being MrKB gave them very vague answers. They then asked if the car he was driving was his. Yes he replied. So they radio it through and guess what, it belongs to a female. They weren't amused, but neither was he for being questioned just going about his business he said.  I wasn't happy as now my car is going to be 'marked' and I'm just waiting to be pulled over in it Bawl

We're obviously ahead of the times in Belfast as we've had "Black Bastards" for donkeys years.

We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to time

marked how? do you think they have crystal balls in their cars that tell them to pull certain cars over? Laugh

was it a particularly girly car? mr c got questioned driving my streetka once (not pulled over they just parked next to him as he parked up near our house and asked out of the window.) i'd have been grateful had it been a TWOCer and not mr c though...

that's pleasant. on so many levels. ROTFL

  • Re: boys and girls in blue?

i dont know keef, they had a yellow coat on over their bluey black u niform,so maybe they should be called the boys in the bluey black uniforms with bright yellow coats.

when i was buying my dog sign from Pets At Home, the man behind the counter said you have to display a sign regardless of what type you have, and that your dog has to have a contact number on its ID tg,regardless of micro chipping or its  a £65 fine...dont know why though,i had zoned out  by then Laugh

Of course they do.  I know you are a copper but don't you watch Police Interceptors? Laugh

that trips off the tongue Laugh

if they're PCSOs they'll be boys in the bluey black uniforms with bright yellow coats who wear silver bands round their caps, or possibly blue checkered ones depending on the force.

PCs would be boys in the bluey black uniforms with bright yellow coats who may wear a helmet if on patrol, a cap with a black checkered band if in a vehicle, or more likely be neglecting to wear their headgear at all

    just so you know

I knew you had to have a tag with your phone number on your dog but not a beware of the dog sign - I thought they were like Baby On Board signs.
