the alterations package is about £100 each but the only good thing is that they keep the dress until the wedding as i have nowhere in the house to keep it. And everyone would want to have a look and its just easier for them not to be there.

The alterations package for my dress is £150 but i will just need to pay as i want them to keep it until the date.

Preston is about 2hrs drive from my h2b place. Im not sticking to strictly where i stay as i live in scotland with 1 bm my h2b is in england and my other bm is in wales! so im open to ideas

For wedding dresses packages around £100 - £150 are pretty standard, (although mine are included - jsut because im nice like that Big Smile)

For Bridesmaids the larger stores do packages like that, but maybe they might not need altering???

I have a price list per dress type so £20 a hem £30 a corset and so on for bridesmaids - its just simpler for a bride and less costs.

what your best doing if your not tied in to the other BM dresses, is looking at the Olivia Mae range letting me know which ones you like i can tell you if i have them or need to get them in for you. then book an appoitment then its not a wasted journey.

I can also store the dresses for you untill needed.

Also try Kelsey Rose - i should be getting that collection in next March! they do really funky colours!!

Hope that info helps my website is www.foreternitybridal.co.uk

drop me a pm or email if you need anymore advice.

    xx

I think the alterations sound ridiculous.  On b/m we charge a max of £15 for hem and £15 for bodice - only more if the b/m has dropped a dress size or more.

For wedding dresses we charge around £50 - £60 for hem and bodice, slightly more for lace hems (we do a lot of Pronovias!) or, again, if the bride has lost a lot of weight

On our more expensive wedding dresses we often include the alts in the price.  And we store the dress up to the date of the wedding and press/steam the dress before collection.

I would definitely shop around - £150 for this service is excessive.

Look at Dessy - their dresses are quite reasonably priced and they have recently brought out a new range of taffetas.

i have already bought my dress so kinda need to pay the 150 so that they keep it for the next year.

Bridesmaids im trying to shop around for as it does seem a bit expensive and as i said earlier my budget has grown a bit too much.

Is taffeta used much? because its quite difficult as some shops don't stock it

My little fg's wont be in taffeta as theres are going to be expensive enough without trying to find that too

True bride do a great range of dresses in Taffeta, if you have a look on their website (www.truebride.co.uk) a large number of their dresses are done in both satin and taffeta which makes it a great range to chose from.  Typical retail is around £185

    Hey

we were looking at dresses at my local bridal shop and the 2 dresses were going to cost £350 plus alterations but then our budget needed to be cut in half as we needed to buy a car?!   So........

We ended up buying our 2 dresses, only this week, from Debenhams. We found dresses for £120 each and with all the discounts around at the mo instead of paying £240 we managed to pay £160.    The advantage we had was being able to try them on there and then.
