Despite us getting very wet and a little bit lost, the NW meet at the Museum of Science and Industry was good fun this week!

We've set a date/location for the next one and it would be lovely to see as many NW Hitchers there as possible.

The park is fab, it has Animal World (free) with giant rabbits and a white peacock and other exciting things to look at, plus a tropical butterfly tunnel which you can walk through with butterflies all around you. There's also a great play park with a massive sandpit.

If the weather's rubbish there aren't many options for shelter, so perhaps as a back-up we could go to the new (giant!) soft play place in Bolton, Curly Whirleez http://www.curlywhirleez.com/

H has really inconsiderately fallen off his bike and broken his arm, and he has an appointment at the fracture clinic on tuesday.

His timing is bloody brilliant - we are off to center parcs a week tomorow too

Right, I have checked the weather forecast and it says 'light showers' for tomorrow so shall we brave the park? I'll bring the raincover, and a mac for both of us! The only problem might be lunch. There is a cafe but it's not very big and IIRC doesn't have highchairs. We might have to wing it, or maybe go somewhere else if people want to stay out.

As you drive up, you need to follow signs to the 'main attractions' car park. Animal World is signposted from there. Shall we meet at the entrance to Animal World (under the sign) at 10? If it's absolutely chucking it down we might be sheltering in the butterfly tunnel.

I cant come as the car decided to "die" on our way home from holiday and now has something hanging down from the engine and is leaking something so tomorrow i have to go and get a diagnosis for it... looks like we will be needing a new car
