I've read it! We read as part of the book club on Off Topic a few months ago. I loved it too, but really didn't like the ending. I soooo wanted it to be a happy one Sad Have you read any of his other books?

Ooh! I'd like to see it as a film. I wonder when it will be out?

I was really willing it to be a happy ending but think it was fabulously written and the way it did end and what happened really worked.

Would love to see a film of it but hope they pick good actors!

You've all inspired me to buy a book! I wanted one for my hospital bag! (wishful thinking I'll have time to read?)

Yes read it and loved it too.  I think the film has been cast already. Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.  Can't wait to see it.

I liked it, but didn't like either of the characters until they got to my age (34). Wonder if I'd have felt any differently if I'd read it earlier. In some ways I thought it was a bit lazy, the author could start a story line and not have to bother finishing it - when the male charcters mum wants to speak to him (in venice?) for example. But over all I did like it. I was properly shocked at the female characters ending.

Actually yep I agree that some of what he started trailed off, but isn't that the nature of the 'one day' idea, you're kind of left guessing? I loved it up to chapter 18 but after that it dis seem a bit rushed. I did however like how it ended but it could probably havebeen sharper IYSWIM?
