  • Any experience of Chicken Pox in newborns?

    Smile Hi everyone

Been manic for the last few weeks, Liddy not well, Charlotte's tongue tie release, car problems etc.... i will post the birth story soon!

Anyway, Lydia has just got over hers, which was pretty mild, Charlotte is fine at the moment but has the same empty high pitched tickly cough Liddy had before she came out in spots.... I know there's not a lot I can do but just want to be prepared...

    Confused

Baby girl Lydia Born 18th Jan 2008 (12 days overdue weighing 8lb 9.5oz)
Baby girl Charlotte Born 23rd Mar 2011 (40+1 via VBAC weighing 8lb 14oz)

M had chicken pox at about 2months I think. It looked more like a rash/graze instead of liquid filled blisters and she seemed to cope a lot better than R. She did get them on her eyelids so she had some special cream for that. The reality of it was far easier than I expected. Just keep an eye on L I'm sure she'll be fineHug

Edited to add we just used callamine lotion and aloe vera for M as she was too young for piriton. Also when we bathed her we tied some oats in a muslin round the tap as it's supposed to be very soothing

R had it at 5 weeks.

He was really mild (as was E). No temp, if it wasnt for the runny nose and the blister filled spots (I was horrified that they were the exact same size on his little body than they had been on Es) I wouldnt have known.

Hopefully charlotte will be ok. The doctor didnt think R would catch it but he did. But he was a wee bit older so fingers crossed she doesnt get it.
