S wears both. she was in just babygrows/ vests until she was about 3 months. Now, most days she wears proper clothes. Mostly leggings or fleece trousers and tops. She has some jeans and dungarees too. She has some days when she wears a babygrow though. I find babygrows are great for when we go swimming. Much less faff than a 'proper' outfit. I generally like to differentiate between day clothes and night clothes, although some of her day outfits are kind of a smart/ more patterned babygrow iyswim.

It's definitely each to their own, and I don't think there's a wrong or right way to dress babies.

Aaron was mostly in babygros as he was so sicky as a baby and forever wore a bib until 6 months. I did have the odd outfit ..usually from pop as they looked so comfortable

But who cares how you dress your child, it is up to you

Joe wore babygrows in the day until about3-4 months and then wore clothes unless lazy house day but we didnt have many of them. To be honest we had so many clothes it would of been a waste not to wear them i dont think i bought him any clothes until he was 9 months.

    Each to there own x

i think from a few weeks aaron was only in sleepsuits at night. He wore short rompers during the day or little soft dungarees. trouser/tshirts then jeans etc. i prefere it that way and will do it again with next baby

I always dressed E for the day, although sometimes that would be a romper or a nicer babygro (too nice for bed!) and he would be in plain babygros for nighttime. We didn't buy him any clothes apart from his premmie clothes and were given so many lovely clothes as presents that he pretty much had enough for the first six months and it would have been a shame not to use them! I enjoyed getting him ready for the day too. I imagine the novelty will wear off sooner with no. 2 and he/she will live in whatever I can find clean!

I know it's each to their own, and I've mentioned this on here before with varying responses, but one mum I know used to keep her baby in the same vest and sleepsuit for 3 days/nights at a time with no change, I personally thought that was a bit grubby Embarrassed

Zoe wore "proper" clothes from around 8 weeks when she went into 0-3 months stuff.  Before that she would wear either a babygro or those trousers with feet in.

Mind you, even now if you popped around unexpected during the day you could easily find us both in our pyjamas.

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

Oooh, this a random annoyance of mine Laugh but that's just me.

I dressed Liam every morning in little outfits from when he was tiny.  I wanted him to know that he had different stuff on during the day.  If they go outside in babygro's it's like them going out in their PJ's in my mad world anyway.

    Each to their own though.

I have very distinct ideas about baby clothes though - no jeans, no brown, no bright colours. All his clothes were soft and comfy but I definitely got him dressed every day - in the early days he had "posher" baby grows but he stopped wearing them at 12 weeks.

For the first 3 months or so both boys only wore babygrows in the day if we were at home. After that I'd get them dressed, but into very casual clothes like tracky bottoms and tee's. I didn't like them in jeans when they were so little - they seemed to be so uncomfy, even though they're made so soft...mind you, I don't like jeans if I'm at home, and put tracky bottoms on the minute I get up / get home...only putting jeans on to go out.

As others have said, each to their own!

I dressed R in proper clothes not babygrows almost from day one iirc. Not even a conscious decision - never occurred to me to anything else. I can actually imagine thinking the same thing - that mum hadn't got baby dressed yet! (not in a judgemental way, just conversational) Babygrows to me are nightwear. Get up, get dressed - simples! It was only a thread like this that made me aware others didn't. I have to say I've never understood the common comment about babies looking like babies. At 6 weeks R wore a beautiful dress to a wedding, Monsoon - and I'd gave happily owned a replica as an adult. She still looked like a 6 week old. To me, mini grown up clothes on babies just serve to EMPHASISE how tiny and young they are, because they look mini, not 'real'.

I always find this debate really interesting, because it's only Hitched where I 'know' people who dress their babies in babygros during the day. Everyone I know IRL dresses their babies in real clothes, even if just a romper suit or similar. It would just never occur to me to put his pyjamas on him during the day. R has been wearing real clothes since 4 weeks ish I think. And he definitely wore rompers and not sleepsuits before that. In fact we brought him home from hospital in a short sleeve short legged romper!

For those who don't dress their children in clothes due to comfort, why do you dress them in clothes when you are going out, why not keep them in something comfy like a babygro? I don't get that.

I guess in the same way i wear my pj's or joggers around the house but not if we are out and about.

A was in babygros everyday till he was 3 months then i got him dressed to go out.

He is 13 months and if we aren't going anywhere he will be in a babygrow around the house - he is always crawling around and meals are such a messy affair i don't really care if the babygrows get messy. also he will not keep socks on but our floors are quite cold so babygrows keep his feet warm plus they have grippy bits on the soles of the feet. Either that or he has joggers on around the house. Jeans and stuff are just when we got out - otherwise they just get dirsty and he has nothing clean to wear when we are going somewhere.

Slummy mummy, slummy baby i guess.Indifferent

There are too many cute outfits out there to wear sleepsuits all the time. D was a summer baby so wore a lot of vests and short sleeved rompers for a good while but he was given so many beautiful outfits I wanted him to wear them. Isla is winter born an was in sleepsuits for a few weeks but again she was bought outfits and I couldn't wait for her to get into them. I've already got her 3-6 month wardrobe lined up. It's guilt free clothes shopping! Anyway because of that I do look at sleepsuits as pyjamas although there is nothing wrong with using sleepsuits for daywear and in fact it is fairly sensible. Both of mine wore clothes in the day from a few days old. We used it to help them get used to day and night early, so different clothes. Also we were brought so many outfits I wanted to get use out of them. They were mainly soft clothes though.

I was just googling this subject to see how other Mums liked to dress their babies. I am thinking of starting up my own clothing range aimed at baby boys, for Mums who like to dress their babies in 'baby clothes opposed to 'grown up' clothes but not sure how much of a market there is for this. My reason for starting this is my own frustration at not being able to find clothes that were babyish enough for my twin boys. Are Mums pushing this trend forward or are we dressing babies older because the shops are dictating this to us? I'm really not sure.

I am also thinking of clothing just for boys because of how many Mums have commented how little choice there is for baby boys - the boys section is shops in tiny compared to girls, good example is next.

I would also like to keep it affordable - what would you all consider reasonable to pay for a 'dressy baby grow'?

I believe Mums should dress their babies how they like but just more choice would be good.

What do people think of the name, Just Boys?
