So how bad is your snow?  We are due to travel from London/Essex to Swansea today to catch the ferry to Ireland.

We're pretty close to the M25 and then it is M4 all the way. Please tell me the M4 is open near you.........

    TIA

Fine here in Reading (J10-12) - all the main roads are clear at the moment.

(and it might be worth having a look at the BBC Travel cameras as they will show you how the roads are looking)

Thanks everyone. I'm more worried about the influx of snow expected this afternoon.

Bristol - Newport is fine. We went to Cardiff on the weekend and the motorway was ok, not great and down to single lane for much of it.

It's snowing here at the moment (Newport)

Mossy I'm not exactly on the M4, just north of swindon and its snowing here, and the inlaws are just south of the M4 and its snowing there, so I'm not sure if it might be snowing around the swindon area...worth checking out before heading out x

This isn't flying, its falling - with style

We're just off J29 (Cardiff) and not sure what the M4 is like now but has been snowing quite badly here all morning. Good luck - are the ferries still running?

I can never reply on my phone to threads here but I would really appreciate it if any of you could keep me up to date with the weather situation!
