How much would you pay for a live band?????

 Hiya,

We're trying to get qoutes for a live band to play at our reception. Looking at them doing 2 1hr sets. How much would you pay?? Or if you don't mind me asking, those who are having a band, how much are you paying???

The cheapest we have been qouted so far is £990.00. It seems a lot of money!!

Ours is £850, but that is a lower price than they usually charge because they are local.  

It would depend on how many people are in the band too - if there are only 2 / 3 it should be a bit cheaper.

 That is cheap!!! we have been quoted 850.00 and includes disco for inbetween sets and the last hour. i thought this was really reasonable as I've known bands to charge 4 figures.... the more musicians the higher the price i guess....

 I don't think that sounds like a bad price - as the others have said it does tend to depend on number of members of the band, and distance they have to travel.

 Thanks for the info. There are only three in the band (think they have some backing track to them cos it looks like they only have guiatars, but they are travelling from london to north wales so I suppose that knocks the price up. I might try and find a more local band, so if anybody has any recs!

It does seem an awful lot of money, and we have a tight budget so it's really one of the first things we should drop but it's the 1 thing H2B really wants.

Suppose if you want something you've got to dust your wallet off, I've just become a tight old sod because I'm so skint now!!! LOL

 God, ours is very expensive then! My parents had heard this Motown band play at a party (they do loads of corperate dos like BBC etc). Live music was one thing we really wanted so we just went for it.

2 x 45 min sets =

£1400!!!

Plus we need a dj for inbetween and beforehand!

We are having a ceilidh band play for 3 hours. There are 3 people in the band and a caller costing us £700. They were one of the more expensive ones as well. I guess it depends on what sound you're after.

 the band we really really like the look of is £1400 to be honest if the others are £990 and we decide to go for it, I'll be tempted to get the band we really want - in for a penny in for a pound (or 1400 pound to be exact!).

We are having a Ceilidh Band and its costing us £900. They will be at the venue from 7:30 until we have to leave at 12:30. We will be having a dj as well which is £500.

our ceilidh band are £850 and thats includes a ceilidh dance, dj set, then closing session.  they will be there from 7.30 to 12.30.  our friends band is also playing a small set at some during the nite too, we are paying them £200.

Our band is costing £2000.  its the only thing OH insists on.  It is a 70's   10 piece band and we have seen them twice before so know they are worth their money.   They are doing 2 live sessions and all music inbetween. so no more music expence!!!

We have a three piece ceilidh band for £650. they are playing 7.30 til midnight and will change to a standard disco when guests start tiring of the scottishness!!

We also have a female barber shop quartet singing for around two hours (not continuously) for £200 on mates rate. Not sure how much they charge usually...

 I'm dreading that the band plays to an empty room as the crowd spill into the gardens on a lovely summer evening or head for the smaller bars in the venue....

cant believe how much some of you are paying but you are paying for each musician, transport, petrol and maybe even some PA hire... hope they are all worth every penny :)
