Hi all - just wondered what midwifes and doctors so with regard to EDD.   I have longer cycles and if you go from the first day of my period I am nearly 6 weeks but in fact I know pretty much when I ovulated so am only 4+2.   Going to doctors next week and wondered if they will use my first day of my period or my dates when booking the first scan?

    TIA

my mw worked out my due date by adding 7 days onto the day of my last period, and taking 3 away from the months

so LMP was 6/8/10  EDD was 13/5/11

however my ov dates gave me an EDD of 6/5/11 and then dating scan gave me EDD of 3/5/11 (using crown to rump length)

I would explain it to them. Its not a major problem but if you are in an area where you would be offered the nuchal scan they need to get that in the right window x

JACK: Not for nothing, Jen. But it's only since you've been seeing a psychologist that I'm starting to think you may be in fact crazy. JEN: You wanna go to New York, Jack? JACK: Yes. JEN: Then shut up and watch the fish.

I gave my midwife a fake LMP date so the EDD was correct Laugh

Ours initially use a standard EDD based on 28 day cycle; however after the 12 week scan if there is +/- 7 day difference then they will adjust

Tell your MW/GP what your cycle length is and they'll be able to work it out from that.

When I was pg with N, my mw automatically worked my EDD out on a 28 day cycle (18.06.09), at the time it was 30 days (20.06.09), so I just added 2 days onto the EDD she gave me!  It didn't really make much difference, as the measurements from my 12 wk scan moved me forward 2 days (16.06.09).

I continued to go by my dates, as I knew exactly when I'd OV'd (I was using the CB fertility monitor) and he arrived on the 20 June!

My periods are all over the place but the MW and GP still based it on a 28 day cycle grr.

I then just went by the date of my 12 week scan and changed my EDD on my notes myself.

Only just got back on here - thank-you all for your replies.  All makes sense.  I was thinking what sweetersong said.  The difference would be 2 weeks so wanted to make sure the nuchal was done around the right time.   I will have a chat to midwife.

    Thanks
